SINGAPORE EA-02-11 | 26 October 2015 18:15 to 20:00
Event type: Technical Lecture
Finite element analysis provides a powerful and convenient way of analysing complex engineering systems. However modern finite element analysis tools make it easy for novice users to dive straight into analysis without fully understanding the approximations used by the software, the assumptions they are making (perhaps without realising) and the limitations that may all adversely affect the results.
Industry sector: Cross-sector.
Singapore Science Centre | 14 October 2015 18:00 to 20:00
Event type: Talk
Tremendous progress in performance, efficiency and noise reduction has been made over the history of the jet engine, culminating in the new generation of engines powering the 787 and A350. The lecturer will describe the technical challenges that need to be overcome to develop future engines and ensure this progress continues. This is essential so that future generations can continue to benefit from affordable air travel and there is much further work ahead.
