The IMechE Yorkshire Young Members Conglomerate (YYMC) are excited to announce the IMechE Yorkshire Women in Engineering (YWE) Symposium 2024, in collaboration with event sponsor AESSEAL plc.

YWE is a celebration of the inspirational women that form a vital part of the engineering infrastructure in Yorkshire. The event will host a plethora of speakers from across the region - from engineers in the early stages of their careers, to the Chief Executive of the IMechE, Dr Alice Bunn OBE - who will talk about their successes, achievements and some of the challenges they have faced in their careers.

Interactive workshops will allow you to engage with women engineers in various fields, including aerospace, medical design/manufacturing, nuclear fusion, metallurgy, and academia.

You will also have the opportunity to engage in a Q & A session with a panel of our keynote speakers, which should spark off some healthy debates. Ask a question and have your say, by following this link: https://forms.office.com/e/2UQ11Ysjhx

Poster competition (women entrants only):
Are you an Affiliate or Associate member of IMechE, or a member who has been professionally registered for less than 10 years? If yes, then you are eligible to enter our poster competition & could win a cash prize! Showcase your latest project or passion in engineering and be judged on the presentation of your work & how you answer any questions from the judges on the day. All you need to do is submit a written abstract of no more than 500 words on a mechanical engineering-related topic of your choice, and produce a poster that encapsulates your submission. Click on these links for the competition rules and submission deadlines, and the abstract template.
*Note - the abstract submission deadline has now been extended to the 5th June.*

Lunch will be available for all attendees during registration at the start of the event, with light refreshments at various times throughout the afternoon.
